Everyone prepares well for the SSC Board exam with no doubt, and most of us know the answers for the questions asked in the exam. Still, the exam fervor invades a few students that they tend to commit mistakes that could have been easily avoided when cared.
Let us understand the most common mistakes in SSC Board exam committed by the students and its simple resolutions.
As the SSC Board exam is approaching very fast, students are gearing up to attend the same with full-fledged enthusiasm, preparation, and confidence.
Learning the best techniques to write the exam is also as important as preparation for the exam. Even though the students have prepared well for the exam, there are certain grey areas, where the candidates tend to lose the opportunity to gain marks in the exam hall.
Let us understand these grey areas first to overcome the same. A few of the common mistakes committed by the SSC Board students are briefed here.
Mistake#1: Not Reading the Question Paper:
It is essential to read and understand the question paper correctly.
Many times, students read the question hurriedly or just a part of the question. As soon as the students catch hold of a familiar phrase in the question, they jump to another question with a high confidence that they know the answer for it. With a prejudiced decision, they write the whole answer wrong and thereby lose time and marks as well.
For example. Draw a neat diagram of the human heart. Label any five parts mentioning one function each.
In a hurry, the students leave the second part, draw a complete labeled diagram and switch to the next question. Hastily the student loses the mark for known answers.
It’s a mind game. The mind takes it granted for neat labeled diagram leaving behind the other part. Beware of this mind game.
Mistake# 2: Not Hitting the Golf Ball Solid:
Many times, it happens that the question given is twisted. But, you tend to write the answer you know better.
For example. Write a note on double circulation.
Instead of highlighting the double circulation, you may start writing everything you know about the circulation of blood, and add a small note about double circulation somewhere in the answer. Again, you missed writing the answer to the point.
And, thus gain fewer marks for not writing correctly.
Restrict your answer to the point. Do not take time to write what all you have studied but to write what all have been asked.
Plan your answers wisely according to the questions asked. Meaningful learning plays the key role here. You have been asked the concept of double circulation here and not the circulation.
Mistake# 3: Not Managing the Time Properly:
Many times, it happens that students keep struggling to write an unknown answer. You may spend an hour for one 5/7 marks question.
You are forced to write for 80+ marks in the remaining two hours. What a tragedy it is?!
As soon as you get the question paper, distribute the time for attending all the questions in your mind.
For instance, one-word answers in the first half an hour, 2 marks questions in 45 minutes, 5 marks in one and half hour, and, so forth.
Keep a tight watch over the ticking clock, and attend all the questions. Unattempted questions will make you lose marks deliberately.
Mistake# 4: Not Copying the right data:
Many times, it happens that students do not copy the right data while solving a mathematics or physics problem.
They substitute the wrong value with the correct formula and arrive at a wrong answer or may struggle to arrive at an answer. They never take the time to cross-check the data.
They may get tensed in deriving the answer or a formula and waste time in the exam. Besides, lose marks for wrong attempt.
Cross-check twice before you deploy any formula or derive an equation with the question asked. Be relaxed while solving the problems.
For example: Instead of substituting -1, you may just write 1 leading to wrong answers with correct steps.
Mistake# 5: Not checking the Answer Paper Before Handover:
Many times, it happens that students are excited to handover the answer paper and run out of the hall, once they see their friend walking out of the exam hall.
You might have missed out the roll number, left unattended questions for which you know the answer, committed silly grammar mistakes, and, so forth.
At times, a great blunder happens that you never turned the question paper back once, and left the questions printed at the back of the paper. Indeed, it’s a horrifying and a painful experience.
Do not close your papers as soon as you finish without cross checking and handover it hurriedly. Take time to revise your answer paper again and submit once you are satisfied with your answers.
Do not ignore your handwriting. Students tend to write leisurely for the first hour of the exam and then start cribbing on the answer sheet.
I bet even you fail to reread it with clarity. How can the evaluator evaluate the marks?
And, you keep changing the questions to attempt. By order, you strike off the answers, again and again creating a messy paper eventually.
The examiner may not take extra time to search answers amidst the cross and cuts made by you. [of course, examiners check thoroughly. Accidentally, you may lose marks in case you wrote the one-word answer in between a page of cross and cuts].
