National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a national-level scholarship program and the most prestigious examinations in India. It is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training NCERT for the class X students to identify and recognize students with high intellect and academic talent.

The National Talent Search Examination [NTSE] is the National Level Scholarship program in India for Class X students. Being the most competitive exam, it is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training [NCERT], every year.
The NTSE exam is conducted with the motive to test the aptitude of class X student. And, the preparation methodology is oriented in such a way that it trains the student to understand the Science and Maths concepts and its applications in-depth.
This kind of preparation helps the students to clear the engineering and medical entrance examinations as well. That is, by all means, it lays a strong foundation for the students to compete in their higher level examinations.
It covers the syllabi of State and Central Education board and assesses the skills of the students. Usually, 3 lakh students appear for the scholarship exam every year and among them, only 1000 are awarded the scholarship, of which 775 candidates belong to general quota.

NTSE Exam is conducted in two stages-Stage I at State-level and Stage II at National Level.
Both the Stage I and II exam comprises of two sections-Mental Ability Test [MAT] and Scholastic Ability Test [SAT].
Mental Ability Test [MAT]:
The Paper I /Section I is of Mental Ability Test. It tests the aptitude of the student. The questions are of 150 in number carrying 150 marks with an exam duration of 135 minutes.
- Arrange the given words in alphabetical order and tick the one that comes first.
Key Concept: You have to arrange the words as per alphabetical order as in the dictionary. Here, the first 3 letters are the same. In the fourth letter, ‘e’ comes first, ‘o’ next, and then ‘t’. So the answer is Absence.
Scholastic Ability Test [SAT]:
The Paper II/Section II is of Scholastic Ability Test. It tests the fundamentals and conceptual understanding of the subjects like Language, Science, Maths, and Social Science. The questions are of 50 in number carrying 50 marks with an exam duration of 45 minutes.

The Paper-I and Paper-II for the State-level and National-level remain the same.
